Crucian Carp

Reproduces very quickly and is very voracious, feeding on the larvae of aquatic insects, tadpoles, and also aquatic vegetation.

Still or slow-moving water rich in vegetation.

 

Diet

Omnivorous. Aquatic insects and their larvae, small worms, plankton, and plant sprouts.

Reproduction

From May to June, each female lays 200,000–300,000 eggs among the vegetation.

Observation in the Reserve

Common in the ‘lame’ and rare in the ‘lamette’.
