Habitat
The species is typical of wetlands. In fact, it lives in very damp soil and may even withstand periods of flooding.
Uses
Widely used in reforestation to stabilize uncultivated areas near wetlands.
Etymology
The genus name possibly comes from the Celtic ‘sal lis’ (= near the water).
Observation
A few isolated specimens can be found near the paths in the Reserve. Some shrub stands with a typical globular shape can be seen from Via Colombera (Iseo), looking out over the ‘lamette’.
