Alternative routes

Is the central path closed? No problem, the Nature Reserve offers alternative routes for everyone.

Do you have three hours available?

You can walk the entire outer loop by combining the northern and southern trails. The route is about 8.5 km long and can be walked in either direction from any entrance.

Tip: also take the detour to the watchtower;

Do you have less time but still want to see the different environments characterizing the Reserve?

Walk the southern trail clockwise (the highlighted path on the map below). Along this route, you’ll have the chance to observe the different environments of the Nature Reserve:

  • The Lama – the area where peat was extracted until the mid-1900s
  • The clay basins – formed in the 1960s and 1970s, now featuring emerald-green hues
  • Woodland and permanent meadow areas – extremely important habitats for many species

Distance: 2.5 km one way. You reach the first birdwatching point on the central trail, then return the same way.

Starting point: Monastero San Pietro in Lamosa – Provaglio d’Iseo

Do you have even less time? Are you a family with children?

Follow the trail to the Torretta starting from the Iseo Visitor Center. Along the way, there are various interactive stations that will allow you to discover the unique features and species of the Nature Reserve. You can also rent binoculars free of charge at the Visitor Center during its opening hours.

Length: 1 km one way
